Selcuk, Turkey

Selcuk home of Ephesus and the House of the Virgin Mary, should you visit? Hell yes you should. While I can not comment on the House of the Virgin Mary I can say that Ephesus is absolutely stunning. This massive aicent is incredibly well preserved and fun to walk around. Its just outside the city too, I walked there from my hostel in the center of town and it only took about 30mins along a wonderful walking path covered in trees. It’s so close and so easy to walk to why would you do anything else?

Ephesus is probably massively busy in season, but if you know me you know I wasn’t there for it. The tourists come and go in waves here. The tour buses bring tons of people right before lunch time and they push them all out so they can go to lunch on schedule. If you are between these waves there is almost no one there and the experience is made way better without the crowds.

After Ephesus I started walking to the House of the Virgin Mary and then realized its crazy far out of town and impossible to get to without a car or bus so I missed it. The signs in the area don’t give you distance they just give a direction leading you to believe its much closer than it is.
